Printing spreads and posters
Newspapers aren’t just for reading – they’re also great for posters, wrapping paper, calendars and other creative projects. Our guide to printing posters shows you how to print a series of posters in a single newspaper.
Can I manually split a design across two pages?
We don’t recommend it – it’s hard to get the halves to line up perfectly. Use software like InDesign, which does the splitting for you when exporting as pages. Folding isn’t exact, so If your design includes spreads across two separate sheets there may be a slight gap or misalignment between the two halves. This doesn’t apply to the centre spread, which prints as a single sheet.
How do I align both sides of my design?
Use InDesign (or similar software) to design as a spread, then export as pages. This gives you the best chance of a seamless result in print.
What’s the best way to design a wrap-around cover?
Using InDesign. Set your wrap-around cover up as a two-page spread (back cover on the left, front cover on the right). Then export your PDF as pages. Rearrange the pages in the PDF so that the front page is page 1 and the back page is the last page in your newspaper.
